The Commissioner representing Abia State on the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Eruba Dimgba, has assured that the Commission will guarantee continuous development of the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria, as stipulated by the NDDC Act of 2000.
Chief Dimgba spoke when the Traditional Ruler of Umuiku-Isi-Asa Autonomous Community, His Royal Highness, Eze Nwabueze Evans Okere, led some Chiefs and Community Leaders on a Thank You Visit to him at his Umuaka-Asa country-home, to express their gratitude for facilitating the installation of One Hundred and Fifteen Solar Lights in Umuiku-Isi-Asa.
According to the Federal Commissioner, mounting of Solar Lights in Abia Communities was aimed at guaranteeing security, especially at nights, and, by so doing, encourage economic activities in the evenings.
Chief Eruba eulogized the current Management of NDDC for its committment to effective transparent equitable deployment of resources for the overall development of the Niger Delta Region.
The Federal Commissioner applauded the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for being passionate about the development of the Niger Delta Region. He said the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda will positively affect all nooks and crannies of the Niger Delta Region, notably including Abia State.
Earlier on, the Traditional Ruler of Umuiku-Isi-Asa Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Nwabueze Evans Okere, had on behalf of the People of the Community
thanked the Commissioner for the One Hundred and Fifteen Solar Lights the Commission had mounted on the major roads of Umuiku-Isi-Asa Autonomous Community in this month of January, 2025.
He used the opportunity to plead with the Federal Commissioner to still look for the possibility of getting more Solar Lights for the People of Umuiku-Isi-Asa Autonomous Community, as there are still some parts of the Community yet to benefit from the Solar Lights.
One of the Community Leaders, Sir Don Ubani, who also was overwhelmed with gratitude, drew the attention of the Federal Commissioner to the deplorable state of Umuiku-Isi-Asa-Oberete-Omuma-Uzor-Obingwu Road. He stated that the Road was very economically and administratively strategic and would be very useful if it could only be graded, without necessarily waiting for it to be tarred.
Among those that accompanied the Traditional Ruler were; the Traditional Prime-Minister of the Community, Chief Peter Nduka, Chiefs Henry Okere, Chidi Ahuruonye, and Onyedikachi Onyema.
The Community Leaders who were present included Messrs John Alozie, Obinna Ahukanna, Hon Onyedikachi Wogu, and Engr Chukwuka Immanuel Ubani-Don.
Expectedly, the Chief of Staff to the Federal Commissioner, Mr Ubani Ogbonna, and two Principle Staff of the Commissioner, Engr Chinwe Sterling Uruakpa, and Mr Solomon Nwoko were present during the visit.
The climax of the visit was a group photograph taken between the Federal Commissioner, the Traditional Ruler, and Chiefs/Community Leaders of Umuiku-Isi-Asa Autonomous Community.
