Virtue is simply defined as the quality of being morally good. In any human-being that is virtuous, the natural tendency is tilt towards excellence in both behaviour and conduct. Excellence in this context, presupposes the person in question has a natural tendency to be equitable, just and fair to all in his or her dealings with human-beings.
The foremost Greek Philosopher and Teacher who was executed in 399 BC, Socrates, in Republic, a book written by one of his brilliant mentees, Plato, outlined Wisdom ( or Prudence), Courage ( or Fortitude), Temperance ( or Moderation), and Justice ( or Fairness, Morality, and Duty to treat others equitably) as fundamental attributes that should be tangibly visible in a Leader that means well for his or her people.
In our societies, many Leaders had existed. The truth, however, is that not all of them were virtuous. More than half were dishonest and unscrupulous. That, to a very large extent, affected the quality of leadership they provided.
For any critic to predict how someone who makes oneself available for public service will perform, if given the opportunity he seeks, there will be need for the person’s pedigree or antecedents to be taken into critical evaluation.
Chief Eric Chinemeucheya Opah is the Governorship Candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, for 2027 general election. Some people say they do not know him but many acknowledge he is not strange to the political firmament of Abia State.
Of course, the latter are correct in their assertion. A man who bought Governorship forms of Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State in 2023 can not be rightly described as a stranger to politics in Abia State. He is known within Abia political class.
On a more serious note, it is quite unfortunate that in this part of the globe, a high percentage of youths start and end their lives with politics. This is unlike what happens in other climes where people garner much experience in the Public Service, Private Sector, the Military, or other related Services before venturing into politics.
Chief Eric Chinemeucheya Opah is a man that has assiduously, systematically and transparently distinguished himself in the world of business. Continentally, he has proved himself to be a trustworthy Shipping Magnate, and a Mogul in Oil and Gas. His business has, so far, been sustained and grown by dint of hard work and, above all, honesty.
Chief Opah, in all his dealings, is always guided by his appreciation of the socratic four cardinal virtues of wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice. Always guided by the above four virtues, Chief Opah has never left any of his business partners shortchanged in one way or another. He is known for his uprightness.
