Is Abia Governor Desperate To Rejoin APC?

Any man that is worth his salt should be defined and guided by principles.

For a man to have decided to defect from All Progressives Congress, APC, about 2022 and, thereafter, taken advantage of ‘Obi Wave’ to emerge as Governor in 2023, it would be expected that the man abandoned APC based principles and convictions.

The speculations making the rounds that Abia Governor is doing everything within his reach to rejoin APC, a Political Party he had long abandoned, if it is true, does not portray the man as a gentleman.

If really he is desperately bent on rejoining APC, where then lies his assumption(s) of popularity in Abia State?

The truth of the matter is that the Governor knows that humongous resources President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left at the beck and call of Abia State Government have not been commensurately deployed in the best interest of the masses.

It is sad that despite the quantum leap in revenue from the APC Federal Government, Abia State Government has subjected her citizens to unbearable burden of taxation, with many business premises sealed up, rents for market stalls in the State increased astronomically, operators of buses and tricycles forced to pay through their nose, while Teachers, and other public servants are stagnated without promotions, not to talk of leave allowances.

While neighbouring Ebonyi State Government that, unlike Abia State, does not enjoy 13% Oil Derivation Fund is paying N150,000.00 as Christmas Bonus to her workers, in Abia State, it is mere rhetoric without substance. Frustration in Abia State, particularly arising from over taxation, has become the lot of the people.

The Governor does not keep his promises. He promised that if elected, he would transfer, in six months, Headquarters of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, to Ukwa-West. But he has cleverly refused to fulfill that promise, and does not want any body to remind him of it.

No wonder the speculation that the Governor, knowing that besides cosmetics and mere propaganda he has not done well, is running helter skelter wanting to be allowed to rejoin APC.

The simple truth is that the Governor has performed so abysmally poorly that he knows that if APC fields a Candidate for Abia State Governorship in 2027, it would be Bye to his ambition.

If he thinks he has done well and is strong, let him not rejoin APC.
