What A Vitriolic Pronouncement Against A Party That Gave Him Prominence, The Case Of Ogah!
Tuesday (Eke) 17-03-2026.
In any field of human endeavour, one should be careful not to shoot oneself in the foot. It is often said that it is from the abundance of the heart that one speaks. Even when one tries to conceive what one has in mind, at times, even unknown to one, the mouth unguardedly ‘vomits’ hidden contents of the heart.
Dr Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah was quite visible as a Member of Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, in Abia State before he decamped to All Progressives Congress, APC, on which platform he contested for Governorship of Abia State in 2019. Though beaten by incumbent Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of PDP, he was able to come second, beating current Governor of the State to a very distant 3rd position.
There has been a speculation that Dr Ogah nurses the hope that the current Governor of Abia State will like to have him as his successor, if he would be privileged to have a second term, in 2031.
Unfortunately, Dr Ogah appears to be so political naive that he does not understand that the man he garnered more votes over his own in 2019, rendering him frustrated and a terrible loser, will never like him to be a Governor in Abia State. The relationship between the two, at best, could be likened to that between a cat and a dog. That experience of 2019, though not pronounced, makes the current Governor develop inferiority complex before Dr Ogah. Of course, he may do every thing within his reach to conceal that complex.
Dr Ogah, who, probably became financially weak after his governorship contest in 2019, was quickly rehabilitated by All Progressives Congress, APC, by appointing him a Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development. He was sworn-in on Wednesday (Eke) August 21, 2019. With that elevation, if his businesses were on a downward slope, it could be likely they became resuscitated. This, of course, is a mere innocent human assumption.
Equity Global Reporters Ltd finds it difficult to reconcile that such an exceptional beneficiary of the magnanimity of All Progressives Congress could get as low as conducting himself in a way that Members of APC in Ward 8 in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia-North could suspend him from the Party, supposedly because of Anti-Party activities. Where is the discipline that should characteristically radiate from such a Man?
More disturbing is that while Dr Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah is still on suspension, and should be showing remorse and pleading for leniency, he reportedly became so reckless and unguarded in his public utterances to the extent of saying he ‘will vote for the current Labour Party Governor of Abia State in 2027’. That was an unimaginable condemnation of APC.
From a video of a meeting of the State Working Committee of All Progressives Congress in Abia State that took place yesterday, Monday (Nkwo) 16-03-2026, at the Party’s Office at Umuahia, the State Working Committee of the Party was unanimous in its decision that since Dr Ogah was already on suspension, he would continue to be on suspension.
This demeaning development and its attendant negative perception on Dr Ogah are obviously embarrassing and were quite avoidable. Men who have, by dint of enterprise, become prominent, should not allow themselves go down because of Vaulting ambition, especially when their hope is purportedly anchored in a man who, unknown to them, may be having an axe to grind with them.
