APC Should Wake Up From Its Slumber In Abia State.
Though All Progressives Congress, APC, is the ruling Political Party in Nigeria, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, doing marvellously well, it is an Opposition Party in Abia State.
Any sincere Opposition Party Leadership employs every legitimate apparatus to fight and bring down a ruling Party either in a State or at National level, especially a Government that is characteritically deceitful.
In Abia State, APC, as an Opposition Party, has many grounds upon which to drag the Labour Party or whatever nomenclature the ruling Party in the State goes by, to the mud and complete exhaustion.
Despite Supreme Court Judgment that allocations meant for the Third Tier Governments should be allowed to be controlled by the Councils, the reverse is the case in Abia State. This is why poverty multiplies at a very astronomical rate in the State.
Not minding the unprecedented humongous allocations the Tinubu Federal Government releases to the State every month, which the State Government has vowed never to acknowledge, unlike many other State Givernments, development in the State is unproportional.
Many projects, running into Billions of Naira are often reported to have been executed by the State Government yet none of such projects can be traced to any geographical location in the State.
It is only in Abia State that the Government makes bold to say that Pensioners should forfeit arrears of their pension.
The Abia State Government has a standing policy of not paying Leave Allowances to Abia Workers. The Abia State Government, out of insensitivity, placed embargo on promotions. Even those who were promoted before the emergence of the present Government had their Gen 35 cancelled. The same applies to Teachers in Abia State.
Overbloating of contracts, without observing due process, and completely devoid of transparency, has become a characteristic feature of official transactions in Abia State.
All through Nigeria, it is only in Abia State that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, is openly violated. The Constitution stipulates that Abia State Capital is Umuahia, where the Government House should be located and Government activities carried out from but, insidiously and unconstitutionally, the Abia State Government House is now located in a private residence far away from the three Local Government Areas that constitute Ikwuano/Umuahia-North/Umuahia-South Federal Constituency. This is a Constitutional aberration, and a slap on the face of the Nigerian Government.
It is quite disturbing and worrisome that despite the numerous fertile grounds for attack against an excruciatingly exploitative Government, APC in the State goes about like a blind, deaf, and dumb emasculated and castrated Opposition Party that is rudderless, taking solace in what it thinks is a political cocoon.
The time to start, with vigour and accuracy, opposition fireworks against this Government that is a one-man show, and that believes every other person in Abia State is a rogue, is now.
