Out of abundance of great respect, I have decided to write this open letter to the very respectable Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, HAG, of Abia State, Mr Ikechukwu Uwanna.
I have every conviction that the HAG must be a square peg in a square hole. He must be a Lawyer that knows his onions. He is, therefore, expected to, at all times, act in consonance with the Rule of Law, not minding whose ox could be gored.
It is on this frame of conviction that I humbly wish to call on the Honourable Attorney-General to find out if it is true that the Law that established Abia State University, Uturu, stipulates that the University shall be run as a multi-campus Institution.
HAG, if that is the case, fundamentally coupled with the fact that Council on Legal Education has a standing rule that Faculties of Law in Nigerian Universities shall be located in urban cities for easy access to Law Courts and Law Chambers, I would humbly request you advise your Boss, Governor Alexander Otti, to allow the Faculty of Law of Abia State University, Uturu, to remain at Umuahia.
Let me point out here that the worst misfortune that can ever befall a Governor of a State is to have a lily-livered Lawyer who can not have the boldness to look at his face and tell him the correct and true position of the Law as his Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
As we all should know, we shall be answerable to God for whatever we do today in our later years.
Sir Don Ubani; KSC, JP
Okwubunka of Asa and Oke Amadi Gburugburu.
Former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Abia State.
