Ukwa/Ngwa Political Leaders’ Forum Condemns False And Criminal Defamatory Publication Against Former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Ph.D. Of Abia State, Circulated By Dr Chidi Amuta Through His Facebook Page.

The attention of Stakeholders of Ukwa/Ngwa Political Leaders’ Forum has been drawn to a criminal defamatory publication on the Facebook Page of Dr Chidi Amuta on Wednesday 1st October, 2025.

On his verified Facebook account, Dr Chidi Amuta shared and circulated a false criminal defamation that purported that our Leader and immediate-past Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D, “has been sentenced to death by hanging by a yet-to-be-verified Abia State High Court Judge, ‘His Lordship Justice Chukwuemeka Nwogu’, on spurious charge of having diverted One Trillion Naira meant for the construction of an Airport in Abia to his private bank account in Australia”.

As respectable and law-abiding Stakeholders in Ukwa/Ngwa and also responsible Leaders in Abia State, we feel very badly astonished, embarrassed and devastated to read of such strange development from Dr Chidi Amuta, of all persons, who is supposedly highly educated, almost globally exposed and who, ordinarily, should be viewed as an elder kinsman of the immediate-past Governor of Abia State.

Amongst us, there are many who have practical knowledge of the workings of Government, especially the immediate-past Administration in Abia State. To the best of our knowledge, Abia State, for the eight consecutive years, 2015-2023, that Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D governed the State, the State Government did not receive up to Five Hundred Billion Naira. The accounts are verifiable.

As a Forum, we have painstakingly made inquiries to know the High Court in Abia State that ‘His Lordship, Mr Justice Chukwuemeka Nwogu’ presided over, upon which he delivered a capital sentence of death penalty by hanging against the former Governor but to no avail.

Our search did not show that there is any High Court Judge in the Abia State Judiciary that bears the name, ‘Chukwuemeka Nwogu’. Rather what we know is that there is a Legal Practitioner in Aba whose name is Sir Chukwuemeka Nwaogu, Esq, but not Nwogu. He is not a High Court Judge.

On a deeper and equally very worrisome note, the photograph of highly revered Hon Justice Innocent Nwabuighogu of the Abia Judiciary was attached to the post Dr Chidi Amuta mischievously shared on his Facebook Page.

Since yesterday, Wednesday, 1st October, 2025, that Dr Chidi Amuta decided to present affront and ridicule as his strange gifts to the Peoples of Ukwa/Ngwa on a special day Nigeria marked her 65-year anniversary, we have been putting our heads together, asking ourselves what could have been the motivation behind Dr Chidi Amuta’s strange and irresponsible conduct. Our worry is even deepened when it is considered that he was in a position to have crosschecked his ‘mission’ with the Chief Registrar of the State High Court to ascertain if a judgment as devastating as ‘sentencing an immediate-past Governor of Abia State, not just to prison, but to death actually took place.

Whatever is the motive behind Dr Chidi Amuta’s probable inanity, not insanity, as we have never heard he had ever suffered from senile dementia, we demand that he should, without further delay, disclose the source of the obnoxious post he shared on his Facebook Page, even as a septuagenarian.

So far, we have managed to resist the insinuation from many quarters that he is the author of that absurdity. We would only be compelled to agree that he originated that concoction if he refuses to let us know the source from where he ‘copied and pasted’ that criminal defamatory publication, at an age of more than 72.

It is only after he would have bluntly refused to let us know that unholy source, that we would know what appropriate legal step(s) to take.

A stitch in time saves nine!
