House Of Rep Member, Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta, Pays A Solidarity Visit To Abia APC.
Monday (Eke) 17-11-2025.
As a true democrat, the Member representing Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s 10th House of Representatives, Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta, appreciates the importance of a Political Paty in nurturing democracy.
He strongly believes that for democracy to be strong and sustainable, all Stakeholders, especially Critical Stakeholders, must give adequate support to one’s Political Party.
Though he won his election to the House of Representatives in 2023 on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, dynamics of reality, coupled with the collective interest of his constituents, made it unavoidable that he had to effect some political alignment. That necessarily required reconsideration made it imperative that he had to transfer the rights and privileges of his hard-won elective status as PDP Member of the 10th House of Representatives to the All Progressives Congress, APC, where he has since vigorously aligned himself with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
He has, since coming into APC and in his characteristic spirit of team work, teamed up with prominent Political Leaders from Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency, such as Sir Marc Wabara, and the Commissioner representing Abia State on the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Eruba Dimgba, Ph.D, to galvanize, in an unprecedented motivational style, interest and support for APC in his Federal Constituency. Consciousness for APC in Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency, with regards to membership drive, has become topnotch. Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency is today, unarguably, APC.
Having guaranteed a solid base for APC in Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency, Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta, in harmonious synergy with other Political Leaders in Abia-South, upped the ante by hosting an unprecedentedly grand senatorial meeting of APC in Abia-South Senatorial District.
Without wishing to sound immodest, the simplest incontrovertible truth any honest observer can say about Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta is that he is a viable asset to APC.
Without mincing words, Representative Nkwonta has never wasted any time in acknowledging the brightness that APC constitutes to him and his constituents. He tells his close associates that what APC did by appointing him as Chairman of House of Representatives’ Committee on South-East Development Commission took him by surprise. He has been relentless in his apprection to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, His Excellency, Dr Tajudeen Abbas, GCON, his brother, the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, His Excellency, The Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, CFR, and all Members of the House who reposed deep confidence in him by making the said appointment possible.
Being the Party Man he has always been, Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta was at Abia APC State Office today to familiarise himself with Members of the Party’s State Executive Committe led by the State Chairman, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu. He purposely went to show solidarity to his new Party that he believes so much in.
Not minding the fact that he was generously present in the Stakeholders’ Meeting of last Saturday, Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta did not see it boring going to meet with the Party in about 48 hours after his previous meeting with the Party. That is the spirit in a true Party Man, a Democrat, and a Leader.
Chief Hon Nkwonta had just three objectives for meeting with the Leadership of the Party today,
(1) To thank the Dr Kingsley Ononogbu-led State Executive Committee for keeping the flag of the Party flying effectively even though it is an Opposition Party in the State,
(2) To assure the Party in the State of his commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and
(3) To advise Leaders and Members of the Party on the need for unity.
He pointed out that for the Party to take its proper position in the State, unity is a sine qua non.
In his response, the State Chairman of APC in Abia State, Dr Ononogbu, thanked Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta for his decision to join APC even as a Serving Member of House of Representatives. He expressed confidence that with the calibre of Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta, APC in the State now has the Sky as its starting-point.
On the issue of unity raised by Chief Hon Nkwonta, the State Chairman made it clear that the Party at the National level has already started working towards that and that in no distant time, unity in the Party will be clearly manifest.
More than two hundred Party Members from Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency accompanied Chief Hon Chris Nkwonta on the solidarity visit.
