Lessons From USA 2024 Presidential Election.
Thursday (Orie)07-11-2024.
The long anticipated and much-talked-about USA 2024 Presidential Election has come and gone!
Because of the significance of the United States of America’s influence on global issues, American elections, particularly the Presidential Election, generates a lot of wave within the global context. Whoever emerges as President of the United States of America is naturally believed has an enormous influence on global security, economy and peace. Hence, the American Presidential Election evokes too much wave of consciousness and interest amongst Leaders and Citizens of various countries of the world.
Tuesday (Nkwo)05-11-2024 marked the climax of 2024 American Presidential Election, which voting had started some days earlier. By the 6th of November, 2024, it had become obvious that a 2016 President of the USA, Mr Donald Trump of the Republican Party, had won the election, beating the incumbent Vice President, Mrs Kamala Harris of Democratic Party, to a second position.
The result of the Presidential Election was quite clear, without any iota of ambiguity or doubt. Former President Donald Trump won in all the Swing States, including the Blue Wall States that are traditional strongholds of the Democratic Party, polling 295 Electoral Votes, 72,646,926 popular votes (50.9%), Vice President Kamala Harris garnered 226 Electoral Votes, 67,962,195 popular votes (47.6%), Jill Stein of Green Party got 0 Electoral Vote, 641,091 popular votes(0.4%) while Robert Kennedy, as an Independent Candidate, secured 0 Electoral Vote, and 616,090 popular votes (less than 4%).
The result of the election has ended up bringing to nought prophesies and predictions by many persons who, hitherto, would parade themselves as notable individuals who arrogate to themselves powers of clairvoyance. Many had prophesied and predicted that Vice President Kamala Harris would win the election but it turned out that former President Donald Trump is the eventual winner.
Certain factors were key in the 2024 American Presidential Election. The first was public judgment on the performance of President Joe Biden on two core issues, Inflation and Immigration. This resonated very harsh negative opinions of the American electorate, and, as it would be expected, Kamala Harris had to bear the brunt of that negativity.
Kamala Harris misfired when she thought that by placing much emphasis on freedom for American women to determine what to do with their bodies, especially on issue of abortion, she would attract overwhelming support from American women. That did not happen as percentage of women support for her did not exceed the support Joe Biden had gotten in 2020. Rather, it appeared to have angered the American men.
Unlike earlier permutations, President Donald Trump made significant strides amongst Latinos, African Americans, and Hispanics, especially their men. Their support was massive.
Another factor that constituted a stumbling block to Vice President Kamala Harris was her failure to attend Press Interviews. Because of that, she appeared in the perception of the American Electorate as one who did not have what it takes to stand as an independent leader, only being able to read from scripts authored by different persons.
With President Donald Trump having successfully led his Republican Party to take majority of seats in the Senate, as it will most likely happen in the House of Representatives, what will happen in America will be obvious, America First.
