It is an open secret in Abia State that the emergence of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu as Governor of Abia State in 2015 was, apart from God, purely out of the Instrumentality of his Predecessor, Senator T. A. Orji, and Members of his nuclear family. Abians did the voting but the initial machinery for its foundation was courtesy of the Ochendos.
Former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has acknowledged this fact severally. No matter his flaws as a human being that is naturally short of impeccability, former Governor Ikpeazu will never intentionally do anything that could be rightly interpreted as being disrespectful to Senator T. A. Orji or his family. Even his worst adversaries, except any that is not sincere, will tell whoever that cares to listen, that Dr Ikpeazu is, by his undiluted nature, a trouble shooter.
In public speech, there could be a slip of the tongue or what is known in Latin as Lapsus Linguae. It is something said without any bad intent by the Speaker. Lapsus Linguae could have impacted on former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s latest public speech, without any intention, on his part, to disparage the person of former Governor T. A. Orji.
I have personally reached out to former Governor Ikpeazu and he frankly told me that, in the said public speech, he never, at any time, had even the slightest inclination to disrespect Ochendo.
Those escalating this insignificant human error do not mean well for human relationship. Ask me, what will they gain? The answer is absolutely nothing.
It must be noted that there is no Rift Whatsoever between former Governors T. A. Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu.
Let me round off this piece by borrowing from the words of a former National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Dr Victor Oye, “What is it that they are squabbling over in this vain world? Let’s close ranks and live in peace with one another because life is too short. Let bygones be bygones, friends”.
